How Zebalandia's Government Works

Summary

Zebalandia's government is the organization that makes things happen. It is also an organization that's responsible for every citizen's wellbeing on the territory of the United Federation. Governments boundries are set in stone by the June Constitution. Zebalandia's history saw many governments and changes to the political system. In recent history, Zebalandia has took a course of becoming a free and democratic state. The Zebalandian Civil war (Late May 2021 - 2nd July 2021) caused the fall of absolutism that the King had for years, and has founded a foundation for a new, free and democratic Zebalandia. Keeping the monarchy was a weird choice, as a complete transition to a republic was later deemed difficult as a lot of people saw the King as a patriotic figure. Instead of transitioning into a republic, the state was turned into a constitutional monarchy and later a federalized constitutional monarchy.

Organization

The government of the United Federation is bicameral and is consisted of 3 main powers - legislative, executive and judicial. The legislative power is vested in the hands of the People's Assembly and the Tsar. This power is the one that is forming laws. The executive power is held by the Federative Representative Office. This power passes the laws the legislative power makes, and is also responsible for every citizen following the constitution. A law can be passed without passing the People's Assembly/Federative Representative Office via refferendum made by the people. The judicial power is in the hands of the Federal Court. This power's job is to make sure every Zebalandian has justice served to them. The people have a power also, having a power to elect their representatives in the People's Assembly and the Imperial Council. The United Federation also has a constitution and the bill of rights that guarantee the rights and laws the people and the government have to obey. The Tsar (Supreme Emperor)

The Tsar is the face of the state, responsible for upholding the United Federation in its unity and legitimacy. The position of head of state has been passed dynastically, with the roots starting way back with Prince Riki. He's also responsible for taking part in the legislative power, with laws first passing the People's Assembly and then the Tsar. The Tsar can veto a law in the People's Assembly. The Tsar has been seen as a patriotic figure in the state, specifically the current Tsar, Tsar Kiki (Cha-Cha). During the Civil war, Kiki took the side of the Liberty and Democracy movement. Ever since the movement's victory in the Civil war, Kiki has been defending the state and its democracy.

The People's Assembly

The People's Assembly is consisted by four MPs who are elected by the people. These MPs must represent the people and the people's ideals. One of the MPs has to be the President of the People's Assembly (PPA). The PPA's job is to assemble the People's Assembly when necessary. The MPs share the legislative power with the Tsar. The decision of the Peoples' Assembly is brought by a common majority vote, however if it lands in a tie, the PPA's vote doubles. The number of MPs can change via referendum held by the people. When doing some math, each MP represents 3.33 people. All in all, the People's Assembly is equal to a parlament in most democratic countries of the world.

The Federative Representative Office

The Federal Representative Office is consisted of all representatives of Districts in the United Federation. Out of all of these representatives, there is one Prime Minister who is supposed to assemble the Federal Representative Office. Federative Representative Office's job is to approve and execute the laws given by the People's Assembly. The Federative Representative Office also gives the Districts a way to represent themselves as well as their interests. With the Federative Representative Office, the Districts have a role of heading the United Federation collectively in a common direction. The decision making process is very similar to the People's Assembly's decision making process with the decision of the majority passing the law.
